“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney
We all love a good Disney quote. There is nothing more ‘Sundayesque’ than curling up on the sofa with a cosy blanket and watching a Disney movie.
We started building our Disney collection and it’s nowhere near complete – but we’re getting there. We have limited space in this new apartment so now all of our DVD’s sit in a DVD holder (talk about space saving!). But, if there was one thing I wasn’t getting rid of it was the Disney DVD cases. They look so pretty and the Disney movies are timeless. Meaning our children will watch them and will love them, Alex.
So considering it’s Sunday, I thought what better post to do than My Top 5 Disney Quotes. But, there’s a twist. This wouldn’t be Diary of a Spanglish Girl if I just listed my favourite Disney quotes in English now, would it? Hey, you might just learn some Spanish too!
1) Mulan
“La flor que florece en la adversidad es la más rara y hermosa de todas”
The flower that flourishes in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of them all.
This quote has been my Twitter bio for as long as I can remember. This is by far my all time favourite quote from Disney. Be the flower that flourishes in a sea of negativity. Grow and show your strength. Be kind. Be beautiful.
Mulan is a work of art. Mulan celebrates the intelligence and is the true fight for gender equality. Anything the men can do, Mulan can do – better.
Mulan wins through creativity and intelligence and this theme continues throughout the entire movie. Sure, Belle is intelligent, but it loses its importance once Belle meets the Beast. Whereas Mulan, Mulan’s’ brains are the biggest plot point. The way she wins that battle has my fist pumping the air. Go, Women!
2) Bambi
“Si no puedes decir algo lindo, mejor no digas nada”
“If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.
We’ve all heard that, right? I think it’s my most used phrase as a teacher. Growing up, I think we’ve all been told it, more than once. But why is it, that we’re still fumbling through life dealing with point-blank meanness. Why do people think that just because you’re hiding behind a computer that you can say something mean. Why are people still going through life trying to make others feel bad? When will people learn that if you don’t have anything nice to say, stay quiet, scroll past, move on with your life. It’s that simple.
3) El Jorobado De Notre Dame
“La vida no es un deporte de mirones. Si pasas el tiempo observando, verás tu vida pasar y tú te quedarás atrás”.
“Life is not a spectator sport. If watching is all you’re going to do, you’re going to watch your life go by without you”
I have sat and thought about this quote, quite a lot. What’s stopping you from doing what you want to do? Life goes quick, scarily quick. If there is something you want to do. Do it.
You want to go solo on your blog? Do it. You want to travel? Do it. You want to find a new job? Do it. You want to move country? What’s stopping you? The internet is a beautiful place. There is always a way to work it out. Just do not sit back and watch everybody else live their life around you.
4) Winnie the Pooh
“Eres más valiente de lo que crees, más fuerte de lo que pareces y más inteligente de lo que piensas”.
You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
If there is something I need reminding often, it’s this. Mental health is, well, awful. Every day is a different battle. There are times when my anxiety is through the roof. Times when I struggle to leave the house. Struggle to even take a shower. I struggle to join in with conversations for the fear that I seem dumb. I need a reminder every so often that I’m intelligent. I’m brave. I’m strong. You are too, don’t let anybody tell you any different.
5) Hércules
“Un héroe verdadero no lo es por el tamaño de sus músculos, sino por el de su corazón”.
A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength — but by the strength of his heart.
In a world full of bad people, please choose to be a good one. Being a good person is so simple. Please, next time you get off of the bus – thank your driver. Smile at the person who stands at the same tram stop as you. Thank the emergency services. Hold the door for the person behind you. Give your seat up on the bus for the pregnant, the disabled (both physically or mentally) or the elderly. It costs you nothing to be a good person. It takes very little effort to be a true hero. Make the right choice today.
I hope you have enjoyed reading.

I love nothing more than sitting watching a Disney movie on a Sunday. I really enjoyed your post & the quotes & explanations are fantastic. It got me thinking about what quote I love from Disney & it would have to be Jiminy Cricket “Always let your conscience be your guide”.
