The Birthday Diary // Greenwich Marina and Moraira

Friday 22nd June 2018

Every day this week Alex has been taking me somewhere new as part of my birthday celebrations.

Adding kilometres to the clock, can’t get used to not talking in miles, we have been exploring different and new places along the Costa Blanca coastline, those that we can’t usually get to.

First Stop // Greenwich Marina

It turns out, one that was supposed to be a quick stop after work, being really close to home, turned out to ultimately be one of my favourites and somewhere we’ll definitely be heading back to.

Campomanes, or Greenwich Marina, is the stunning port just past Altea. If you’re looking for gorgeous views of ports, mountains, boats and cars then you’ll find it all right here.

It’s hard not to fall in love with the port when you arrive. Alex’s words were “wow!” followed by “I never knew why people would want a boat. But now, I want a boat”. So, if there’s anywhere that’s unmissable, it’s here.

It’s a beautiful setting for a relaxing drink in one of the bars and cafe’s whilst admiring the views, it isn’t big, but it’s gorgeous.

Where is it?

The only marina to be located on the meridian 000° 00 ’00’, hence the name, Greenwich Marina!

Second Stop // Moraira

Heading further north, we carried on to Moraira.

Every time you head somewhere along the Costa Blanca coastline, somewhere different brings something completely new.

Driving into Moraira brings some of the most wonderful views of mountains, we arrived just as the sun was dropping below the mountains behind us. The most spectacular hues of pinks, yellows, oranges, blues and purples filled the sky.

An old fishing town certainly is a picturesque destination. Perfect for families, couples and the older generation. Sandy white beaches meet rocky beaches, plus there’s an eighteenth-century castle, right by the shore. Culture, history and art really do meet head-on in this wonderful town.

We took a short walk around the promenade and around the castle, before heading to a tapas bar to enjoy some nibbles with a glass of wine. Of course, Alex had a Coca-Cola!

Where is Moraira?

A forty minute drive North from Benidorm. You pass through Altea, Albir, Calpe and Benissa. All providing wonderful views on the way.

You can also travel via Alsa bus with prices starting as little as 9€ return.

Have you been to Moraira? What about Campomanes?

Hasta luego,
