Valencian Government curfew starts 25th October at 1am.
The Valencian Government have announced that the new restrictions come into play tonight at 1am, rather than in a few days time which was previously announced.
To be absolutely clear, the new restrictions are not part of lockdown. There is no lockdown being set in Benidorm and neither is there a national lockdown. This doesn’t mean that it won’t happen at any point but currently this is not the case.
The new restrictions for the Valencian Community, which includes Benidorm, restricts nocturnal movement in all of the region between 12 midnight and 6 in the morning. There will be a limit of 6 people in social settings and in outdoor social spaces. Gardens and parks will be closed between 10 at night and 8 in the morning. In cases of restaurants and hospitality, the service must always be table service and never at the bar. Tables must be a maximum of 6 and establishments must close at 00:00. It is prohibited to sell alcohol between 10pm and 8am, except at a bar or restaurant.

Maximum tables of 6 and tables 1.5m apart
Masks compulsory when entering establishments and outdoors
Smoking with a 2m distance

The new restrictions do not restrict movement or travel and masks remain compulsory at all times in Benidorm when in public spaces, including outdoors.
There are, of course, exceptions to this curfew. These include an emergency, going to work, at work or travelling home. You will need to provide either your work letter if you are working, or your travel documents if you have an early morning flight to catch.

The new restrictions will not make a huge difference to citizens or tourists, but does mean that the hospitality sector needs to close an hour earlier. However, compared to some countries we are still able to have more movement and more hours of hospitality, which is a positive.
Benidorm is still open and there’s plenty of fun to be had, although it might be a different kind of holiday to what you’re used to. Although the new restrictions means that tourist favourite nightclubs still have to remain closed, there’s plenty of things you’re still able to do. There are a handful of hotels still open, many bars and restaurants and the weather is glorious for sitting by the pool or on the beach. There are many deals on self catering apartments. However, of course, the quarantine which is still active is a major problem for many holiday makers.
This new curfew is in place until 9th December at the moment. The reason for this curfew is in hopes to reduce the infection levels so that during the Christmas period families can join together without restriction or fewer restrictions.
These new restrictions are not a major change to general life here, although I’m sure the press might spin it that way! On behalf of everybody in Benidorm, we’re keeping positive, keeping pushing forward and sharing that Benidorm is open! There are still good times to be had here.
